The invention relates to a surgical operating table in which the seat element (6) is connected to the column (2) by connection means which are interposed between the seat element (6) and the upper part (10) of the column (2), and in which the shape of the column (2) is such that the seat element (6) is offset in the horizontal direction with respect to the lower part (13) of the column (2). The surgical operating table allows the surgical team a freedom of movement, even a seated position for the surgeon.
