PURPOSE:To recognize the operating state of a submarine optical repeater by setting each register of an error counter circuit in a supervisory and controlling circuit forcibly when an active optical transmission circuit is switched into a standby optical transmission circuit and using the supervisory and controlling signal so as to read the content of each register. CONSTITUTION:The supervisory and controlling circuit 6 is provided with a counting circuit detecting the error of a main signal and counting number, sends voltage information to the counting circuit in the supervisory and controlling circuit 6 from the terminal of an optical transmission circuit (standby) 5 to set the counting circuit forcibly, the information is read by the control signal while superimposing onto the main signal, and which of transmission circuits 4, 5 is in operating state is decided by demodulating it at a terminal station or the like and similarly, whether the error of the master signal is generated by the switching of the optical transmission circuit or due to other cause is discriminated. |
