Cosmetic reducing composition containing a combination of a reducing agent and a cationic polymer. The reducing agent is N-acetylcysteamine, and the cationic polymer is a copolymer of 45 to 99.5 mol% of N-vinylpyrrolidone and 55 to 0.5 mol% of unquaternised di(C1-C4 alkyl)amino(C1-C18 alkyl) acrylate or methacrylate. Use of the composition in a cold-state process for the permanent-reshaping of hair.
