Front fork for bicycle - has prongs with I=shaped cross=section which taper from upper to lower ends

The front fork of a bicycle has prongs with an I-shaped cross-section. The cross-section of each prong is so arranged that one flange (8) faces forwards and the other flange (9) faces rearwards, whilst the web (7) is parallel to the longitudinal plane of the bicycle. The prongs (4) have flattened ends (5) with open ended slots to receive the wheel spindle. The depth of the cross-section is a max. at the upper end. The central axis of the web (7) is straight throughout its length. USE - Bicycle front forks.
