PURPOSE:To reduce an axial length of a brake device by providing one or more pairs of brake shoes coming into contact with or separating from both sides of a brake disk which is coaxial with an input shaft, and constituting the shoes in such a manner as to be always brought into pressure-contact with the disk by a spring extensible in the same direction as the input shaft. CONSTITUTION:In the stopped state of a cage, an electromagnet 28 is not energized, and a lever 31 is not pressed. A brake arm 25 presses a brake shoe 23 against a brake disk 22 by a spring 26, and a drive shaft 8 is not rotated. In order to elevate the basket, the electromagnet 28 is energized so that a plunger 29 is projected to press one end of the lever 31. The lever 31 is rotated around a fulcrum 30, and the other end thereof presses the arm 25 on a side opposite to the brake shoe 23 against the spring 26, to be rotated around a pin 24. The shoe 23 is thereby separated from the disk 22 so that the drive shaft 8 can be rotated. Therefore, an axial length can be reduced, thereby obtaining a compact brake device. |
