摘要 The invention relates to a process for converting a substantial quantity of durene present in a hydrocarbon mixture with a boiling point of between 30 and 300 DEG C. The various reactions involved during the conversion are essentially transalkylation, disproportionation and isomerisation. According to the invention the mixture contains 10 to 80% of xylenes and the operation is carried out in a reaction zone with hydrogen under conversion conditions with a proportion of xylene representing 10 to 80% of the mixture. The catalyst contains at least one zeolite chosen from Y, omega, L, beta zeolites, zeolites of type MFI and of type ZSM20, offretite which are suitably modified and preferably mordenite, with an overall Si/Al atomic ratio of between 8 and 100 and with a sodium content of less than 300 ppm. Hydrocarbons no longer containing any appreciable durene are recovered from the reaction zone. Application to the removal of durene from petrols or kerosenes.
