PURPOSE:To uniformize the thickness of the molten powder pool in a meniscus part generated by electromagnetic stirring by using an immersion nozzle having fins inclined in the perpendicular and circumferential direction of the nozzle at a specified spacing on the outer peripheral surface. CONSTITUTION:The fines 3 incline at an angle beta in the perpendicular direction and, therefore, rising force is generated in the direction of the component of force F1 of stirring force F when a molten metal receives the force F. Since the surfaces of the fins 3 receiving the stirring force F incline with the circumferential of the nozzle body 2, flow is generated in the direction of F2. The composite force of F3 is acted on the molten metal by this rising force and flow. The immersion nozzle 1 having the fins 3 at specified intervals on the outer peripheral surface is, therefore, disposed in a casting mold in such a position where the fins 3 exist at the height of the molten metal level in the casting mold. The molten metal is then poured into the casting mold 4. The molten metal 5 is lifted by the composite force F3 when the molten metal 5 poured into the casting mold 4 is stirred by an electromagnetic stirrer 6. The height of the molten metal level between the immersion nozzle 1 and the casting mold 4 in the meniscus part is, therefore, approximately equaled and the molten pool thickness of the powder is uniformized. |
