The valve is provided with valve element 52, 56 movable axially from an inoperative position (Fig. 1), via a first control position (Fig. 2) in which an electric switch 34 is opened, to a second axial control position in which an inlet 22 for pressure fluid is also opened. In this position, rotation of the valve element will rotate a slide valve member 58 so that a desired one of a number of service connections 20 can be connected to the pressure fluid inlet, via space 68 in the valve member 58, whilst the other service connections are vented via space 80 and passages 18, 82. After such rotary movement, the valve element is returned to its first axial control position. In the first and inoperative axial control positions, the service connections are vented to passage 18 via annular space 72 (Fig. 2) and passages 46, 44, or via passage 82. The valve may be used as an emergency manual control for an automatic gearbox, switch 34 deactivating automatic gear selection; service connections 20 communicating with first, second and reverse gear selection actuators respectively and, a further service connection 21 communicating with a "neutral" selection actuator. <IMAGE> |
