PURPOSE:To improve the apparent response of still picture transmission without the change of a coding algorithm by setting a receiving side moving image to an active condition when still picture mode information included in sent image data are detected. CONSTITUTION:When an operating mode shows still picture transmission, a still picture mode decoder 22 provided in a moving image receiving frame memory 13a sends detected information to a moving image receiving frame memory control part 21. In the moving image receiving frame memory 21, based on the transmission information of a still picture sequence N1, the decoding image data of the still picture sequence N1 are written to an RAM 20 with the same control as a moving image transmission time and thereafter, they are read to a moving image D/A converting part 15 with a constant sequence. Thus, the still picture is displayed to a moving image monitor 17 by the number of prescribed frames. The decoding still picture data sequence N2-N4 are not written to the RAM 20 and the reading action of the RAM 20 is repeated until the still picture transmission is ended. |
