The pump has multiple cylinders (5) with pistons (4) displaced by drives from a crankshaft. The two chambers straddling the piston, on each unit, are linked with similar chambers in similar motor cylinders (M) which drive a second crankshaft. No valves are required. The pumps are bridged by damping circuits comprising ballast volumes (8) linked to the two sides of the cyilnder by flow restrictions. These serve to dampen any transients. ADVANTAGE - Quiet operation, efficient power transfer.
