PURPOSE:To obtain dried tea leaves having excellent qualities efficiently and in a short time, by sending a great flow rate of hot air after finely rubbing process to tea leaves and drying by irradiation of far infrared rays while stirring at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Tea leaves subjected to finely rubbing process and having 20-10% water content is fed from inlet 22 of a casing 21 of a drying chamber successively equipped with endless conveyor belts 11, 12 and 13 and far infrared heaters 32 and 33, dried by sending a large amount of relatively low-temperature hot air made into 50-55 deg.C by blending the open air introduced from a vent 36 by suction of a fan 41 with high-temperature hot air from a reflecting plate of far infrared heaters 32 and 33, irradiated with far infrared rays on the endless conveyor belts 12 and 13 while stirring by guide plates 14 and 15 and the tea leaves are made into about 70 deg.C to give the aimed tea leaves by drying almost without sending hot air.
