The invention relates to a process for producing ceramic mouldings, in particular cups, plates or the like, using a press with a first and second press plunger, a diaphragm (13) with a cylindrical extension part (14) which is tensioned between one press plunger (7) and an outer ring (9) movable relative to the press plunger in the pressing direction. By virtue of the elastic support of the outer ring, an improved force absorption is achieved in the transition region of the contour part, between the diaphragm and the extension part, and thereby a longer service life of the contour part. <IMAGE>
