摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a recording film by incorporating at least one element selected from Ti and Cr and at least one element selected from Al, Ta, Nb, Mo, Ag, and Cu into a magneto-optical recording material at the ratios at which these elements are incorporated therein at 0.5-6atom.% ratio in total. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium has a substrate and a thin layer of the magneto-optical recording material consisting of terbium T, iron Fe and cobalt Co formed directly or via a protective layer/enhancement layer on said substrate and is constituted by adding at least one element selected from Ti and Cr and at least one element selected from Al, Ta, Nb, Mo, Ag, and Cu into the magneto-optical recording at the ratio at which the total content of said elements attains 0.5-6atom.%. The effect of durability is lost if the amt. of these elements to be added is <0.5atom.% and recording-reproducing characteristics such as CNR and BER are degraded with lapse of time if the amt. exceeds 6atom.%. The recording medium is not practicably usable in either case. The durability, oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance are thereby improved.
