APPARATUS FOR MEASURING CONCENTRATION OF ALCOHOL

PURPOSE:To continuously and automatically measure the concn. of alcohol by simple constitution, by mounting an alcohol gas sensor on the upper opening part of a fermentation tank directly or through a sampling line. CONSTITUTION:An alcohol gas sensor 3 is mounted on the upper opening part 2 of an open type fermentation tank 1 performing the fermentation of mash. The gas sensor 3 is constituted so that a partition plate 4 and a diaphragm 5 and mounted therein and carrier gas inlet and outlet 6, 7 are mounted on both sides opposed to each other so as to hold the partition plate 4 therebetween and an alcohol concn. detection element 8 is mounted on the side of the carrier gas outlet 7 positioned above the diaphragm 5. The alcohol gas generated from the mash in the tank 1 is taken in the sensor 3 through the diaphragm 5 and discharged from the carrier gas outlet 7 along with the carrier gas. As mentioned above, the concn. of alcohol can thus be measured without bringing the sensor into contact with a substance generating fermentation gas.
