NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula [B is hydrocarbon residue; A is single bond, O, S, NH, NR or carbonyl (R is hydrocarbon residue, aromatic hydrocarbon residue or heterocyclic compound residue); excluding the case that B-A-R is H, lower alkyl or OH-containing hydrocarbon residue]. EXAMPLE:4-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-N-(p-methylbenzyl)moranoline. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be produced e.g. by using 4-O-alpha-D- glucopyranosylmoranoline as a starting raw material and applying conventional process of organic chemistry. As an alternative method, an aqueous solution containing various N-substituted derivatives of moranoline and a glucose-donor such as cyclodextrin, starch, etc., is made to react with cyclodextrin glycosyl transferase and the resultant N-substituted derivative of oligoglucosylmoranoline is made to react with glucoamylase.
