PURPOSE:To display bright and easily observable data within an observing field by forming an optical system for displaying data within the observing field by means of luminous flux passing an eyepiece optical system and the outside of an outgoing iris. CONSTITUTION:In the stereoscopic observing optical system, variable power optical systems 2L, 2R, image forming optical systems 3L, 3R and eyepiece optical systems 4L, 4R are successively arrayed from the objective lens 1 side. A prism 5 is arranged on the obliquely front position of the optical system 2R and a lens 7 is arranged between the prism 5 and a data display device 6. Light projected from the display device 6 forms its image on a face PR through the lens 7, the prism 5 and optical system 3R. Since a data projecting optical axis OD forms a certain angle with an observing optical axis OR on a right optical path, the data image formed on the face PR forms an exit pupil on a position BR' different from a right observing light exit pupil position BR through the optical system 3R. Since the data image is not superposed at the time of observing the image of an object E to be detected, the image can be easily observed.
