PURPOSE:To obtain a practicable intraoral cleaning agent, containing a solvent extract of a theaceous plant and azulene as active ingredients, having mild irritant feeling, taste, touch, etc., comfortable feeling of use, high safety and excellent deodorizing as well as odor neutralizing action and refreshing feeling. CONSTITUTION:An intraoral cleaning agent containing a solvent extract of a theaceous plant and azulene as active ingredients. For example, raw leaves or dried materials of Thea sinensis L., Camellia sasanqua Thunb., Camellia japonica L., Cleyera ochnacea DC., Eurya japonica Thunb., etc., are cited as the theaceous plant. Ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, water, etc., are preferred as the solvent for extraction. The extraction is carried out by a method for adding about 4-6pts.wt. solvent to 1pts. raw material and heating the mixture at the refluxing temperature of the solvent and the active ingredients are obtained as dark green greenish brown powdery solid substance by removing the solvent from the extract solution. Sodium 1,4-dimethyl-7-isopropylazulene-3- sulfonate, etc., are used as the azulene and the content thereof is preferably 0.001-0.2%. The content of the above-mentioned extract is preferably 0.01-5.0%.
