PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing an amide compound and nitrile based compound as active ingredients, having improved controlling effect and wide herbicidal effect on various weeds in wheat or barley cropping, in a small amount of chemical and low concentration without phytotoxicity to wheat, barley, etc. CONSTITUTION:A herbicidal composition containing an amide compound expressed by formula I (R1 is formula II or III) and one or more of nitrile based compounds expressed by formula IV (R2 is H or formula V; X is Br or I) as active ingredients. The blending can be carried out within a wide range, but the weight ratio of the compound expressed by formula I to the compounds expressed by formula IV is within the range of 1:0.05-10, preferably 1:0.2-2. Examples of the compound expressed by formula I include N-(3-chloro-4- isopropylphenyl)-2-methylpentanamide or N-(3-chloro-4-isopropylphenyl)-2- methyl-2-pentenamide. 3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxybenzonitrile, etc., may be used as the compounds expressed by formula IV. |
