It is the aim and object of the invention to implement a user-friendly exposure correction which remains effective in the cases both of automatic and of manual film speed setting and requires no additional manipulation of the setting. According to the invention, a decoder is used to which, apart from a film speed signal which is generated by manual setting or by automatic reading (sensing) of a film cartridge, there are preferably also fed signals for predetermining different modes of operation of the camera as well as an override signal starting from a coding switch which can be actuated in conjunction with the exposure program selector of the camera. The separate outputs of the decoder are connected to a digital exposure control circuit and are occupied, on the one hand, by a film speed signal which has been corrected by the override setting and, on the other hand, by an exposure program signal. <IMAGE>
