PURPOSE:To increase the reaction efficiency and the reaction rate by placing a generator for generating a rotating magnetic field around a refining vessel contg. a molten metal to apply rotating force to the molten metal and by blowing a refining gas from nozzles fixed in the bottom of the vessel. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal is poured into a refining vessel composed of an outer wall of an iron shell 1 and an inner wall of a refractory 2. A magnetic field generator 3 for generating a rotating magnetic field with a bipolar three- phase electric current is placed around the vessel and a rotating magnetic field is generated to produce a horizontal rotating flow 4 in the molten metal. Nozzles 5, 6 are fixed in the bottom of the vessel and a refining gas if blown into the molten metal from the nozzles. The blown refining gas is sheared by the flow 4 and the resulting bubbles rise, describe a locus 10 and reach the central part 7 of the concaved surface of the molten metal.
