PURPOSE:To enable a device to adequately diagnose an engine for its abnormal ity (compression ratio, air-fuel ratio, misfiring, vibration abnormality, etc.), by equipping the device with an ignition timing setting means, which corrects the basic ignition timing, and a diagnostic means which compares an actual ignition correction amount with the reference range to diagnose the abnormality of the engine. CONSTITUTION:An ignition timing setting means (c) corrects the basic ignition timing in accordance with an ignition correction amount. A diagnostic means (e) sets a reference range of the ignition correction amount in accordance with an operative condition while compares an actual ignition correction amount, determined by the ignition timing setting means (c), with the reference range to diagnose abnormality in an engine, and the diagnostic means (e), when it diagnoses the engine to be in the abnormality, outputs an alarm signal. In this way, the engine enables a device to render services to improving maintainability of the engine and its repairability. |
