In a sheet feeder where sheets are being delivered by a chain conveyor from a processing machine, e.g. a printing machine to a stack with the aid of suction rollers to slow the progress of a sheet and possibly air blowers to assist the deposition on the stack, various elements of the feeder are computer-controlled. Inputs for paper weight (45), sheet length and width (47, 47a) and speed of rotation (49) of the processing machine are fed to a reference value sorting device (42) which includes memory and computing facilities. Suitable values are transmitted over output lines (43) to servo motors or electromagnetic valves controlling position and speed of suction rollers, adjustment of gripper opening cams for the conveyor, and, the vacuum or air pressure sortings. <IMAGE> |
