PURPOSE:To enable an error to be processed on the automatic paper feeding device side without exercising an influence on the power source of a recording device body and recording data, by providing a detecting means for a paper feed error, a displaying means, a returning means, and a transmitting means to a recording device. CONSTITUTION:When a paper feed error detecting sensor 8 does not detect a recording paper 1, the occurrence of an error is detected and simultaneously a motor for driving a paper feed roller 2 is brought to a stop. Thereafter, a control part 11 causes a display part 9 to display an error through flickering of a LED. In which case, an interface 10 reports the occurrence of an error to a recording device body, and after an operator eliminates the cause of an error, a key switch 13 is depressed to return a device to a main routine. This enables an error to be processed on the automatic paper feeding device side without exercising an influence on the power source of the recording device body and recording data.
