摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to facilitate the insulation between molten salts with a glass substrate between and use a plate glass substrate, by bonding an auxiliary member to a glass substrate used in an electric field migration method to form a bath for holding at least one of the molten salts. CONSTITUTION:Both principal surfaces of a plane glass substrate 10 are polished, and a masking member 3 is applied to one surface thereof, and masking holes 4 passing through the masking member 3 are perforated to form a masking surface. A pair of frame members 11 having the same expansion coefficient as that of the substrate 10 are bonded to the one surface on the opposite side of the substrate 10 with an adhesive 12 capable of preventing the permeation of a molten salt, e.g. low-melting glass, to form a bath capable of holding the molten salt on the principal surface of the substrate 10. The bonding ensures the insulation effect between both molten salts. If the member 10 is a double member, the thickness of the substrate 10 can be more decreased, and the member 11 may be an electrically conductive material. Furthermore, the fixing of the substrate 10 is assured. The masking surface side of the substrate 10 is dipped in a molten salt 6 containing dopant ions capable of increasing the refractive index of the substrate 10, and a molten salt 8 for electric field transmission is put into a bath surrounded by the member 11 to carry out electric field migration.
