The flat item stacking machine is particularly for biscuits, having a support for them with a roughly horizontal outermost part. The items are moved at a speed such that, when they leave the end of the support (9), inertia causes them to maintain a virtually horizontal position as they fall onto a collector table to form the stack. - The support can be formed by a track, which the items leave at a speed such as to stay horizontal for a distance at least equal to their length, before striking a stop (12) on the table.
