PURPOSE:To improve the ionization efficiency against the input light energy by utilizing Rydberg condition where it can be ionized through Shutalk effect of material to be ionized. CONSTITUTION:At first, magnesium vapor 10 is fed through a gas lead-in hole 1a into a container 1. A laser beam producing section will oscillate at first to lead a laser beam B1 having the wavelength of 2,853Angstrom through a window 3a into the container 1 while another laser beam B3 having the wavelength of 3,859Angstrom is led through a window 3b in similar manner. Both beams B1, B3 will cross in an ion producing space 4 to perform resonance excitation of magnesium vapor 10 from basic condition 3s to first exciting condition 3p through the laser beam B1 while to perform resonance excitation in step from said first exciting condition 3p to Rydberg condition 13d through the laser beam B3. While electric field is applied onto the vapor in said Rydberg condition synchronously with the laser oscillation thus to ionize the vapor 10 through Shutalk effect. |
