PURPOSE:To obtain a display device having excellent visibility by forming a resin film which contains fillers, is transparent and has fine ruggedness on the surface of a transparent plate. CONSTITUTION:This device is constituted of a transparent glass plate 1 having a transparent conductive film 2 on the surface of which an electrochromic material layer 3 consisting of WO3 is formed, a glass plate 4 which is a substrate on the counter electrode side, a transparent film 5 consisting of ITO, a counter electrode 6, a background material 7 consisting of a polytetrafluoroethylene film, an electrolyte 8, a spacer 9, etc. The film 10 on the transparent glass plate 1 on the display electrode side is transparent and has the fine ruggedness formed by aluminum hydroxide particles on the surface and therefore said film can reflect irregularly incident light and loses directivity in reflection. Since the ruggedness on the surface is fine, the display grade is improved without blurring of the display pattern.
