The present invention relates to a detachable hitch for any motor vehicle having to tow a trailer or caravan. This hitch is composed of two portions. The first stationary portion which is substituted for the former support of the vehicle and which has the main characteristic of being pierced in its centre with a round hole and two lateral slits, which holes taken up on a second plate, parallel to the first, behind the latter and offset by 4.5 cm, and the second detachable portion composed of a shaft to which the ball is fixed. On this shaft there are arranged two studs 5 and a washer 6, securely fastened to the shaft. In order to put the hitch into operation, it is sufficient to introduce the movable portion to the fixed portion, in the direction of the studs, and to rotate by a quarter of a turn. The operation is completed by installing a safety pin which is composed of a U-shaped rod mounted on a spring, one end of which is mounted on a guide and the other penetrates the hole 7 provided on the washer, thus preventing the assembly from rotating. <IMAGE>
