PURPOSE:To provide an amorphous magnetic alloy which is obtd. by combining the surface crystallization and has small iron loss with a ferrous amorphous alloy for a magnetic core of a high-frequency transformer or the like in which part of iron is substd. with Nb. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous magnetic alloy which is a thin magnetic strip having the compsn. expressed by the formula (w, x, y, z are atom% of the respective elements, w is 70-85, x is 2-7, y+z is 15-25, z<=15) and is formed with a crystal layer on the surface. The thin magnetic strip is obtd. by manufacturing a thin strip from the alloy having the above-described compsn. by an ultra quick cooling method. A crystal phase is produced on the surface layer of such thin strip with the specific compsn. The thin strip is subjected to a heat treatment at the crystallization temp. for the amorphous material or below and the Curie temp. or above. The thin amorphous strip in which the surface crystallization does not arise before heat treatment is heat-treated at the crystallization temp. for the amorphous material or below to crystallize only the surface layer. Magnetic strain is thus decreased by addition of Nb and the finer magnetic domains are combined with the surface crystallization, by which the amorphous magnetic alloy having small iron loss is obtd. |
