PURPOSE:To reduce select shock by bringing an overdrive gear unit into overdrive state when the engine is idling and the car speed is lower than predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:An exchange valve 100 is provided between an oil path 118 coupled to an oil path 108 in a line pressure circuit 108, direct clutch 6, overdrive brake 7 and lockup control valve 140 and 3-4 shift valve 120. When the engine is idling and the car speed is lower than predetermined level, an overdrive gear unit 2 is brought into overdrive state. Consequently, the torque variation under selection will be lower when compared with directly-coupled state of overdrive gear unit 2, resulting in reduction of shock under selection. |
