PURPOSE:To provide an underwater antifouling paint which is highly safe, has anexcellent antifouling effect, effectiveness persistence, etc. and is suitable for use in coating vessels, by mixing an active antifouling component composed of two specified org. compds. contg. halogen with a paint vehicle. CONSTITUTION:An active antifouling component (A) composed of a compd. of formula I (wherein X is halogen; n is 1-4) such as 1,4-dibromoacetoxy-2,3-dibromobutane and a compd. of formula II (wherein X1 is H, halogen; X2 is halogen; m is 1-3) such as 2,3,3-triiodoallyl alcohol is mixed with a paint vehicle (B) in such a quantity that component A accounts for 0.5-50wt% of the entire paint compsn., thus obtaining the desired underwater antifouling paint. Examples of the vehicles are vinyl chloride resin, rosin ester resin, etc. If desired, other inorg. or org. antifouling agent may be incorporated.
