The arrangement has a clearance area between a surface of a stator i.e. guide vane apparatus, and a surface of a rotor i.e. turbine blade. The surfaces are separated by a gap, where either the stator and/or the rotor surfaces within the clearance area is provided with a pattern of concavities (99). The stator has a discourager seal with a segment, which extends into another gap, and the pattern of concavities is arranged on the surface of the segment. The blade has a flow duct, where the concavities are designed in the form of a hemisphere or a partial hemisphere. An independent claim is also included for a method for limiting gas flow, which flows through a gap between a stator and a rotor in a stator/rotor arrangement of a turbo engine.
