PURPOSE:To increase life of a lead-acid battery without decreasing capacity by providing cation absorbent mainly comprising porous body of a metal oxide such as Al, Ca, Si, Zr, or Y inside active material or on the surface of an electrode. CONSTITUTION:A paste comprising 100g of water, 50g of silica powder having phenyl sulphone group on its surface, and 5g of monobasic aluminum phosphate which is a binder of silica is applied on a positive plate before formation. The plate is allowed to stand at 100 deg.C for three hours to dry the paste. Thereby, a cation absorbent mainly comprising an inorganic porous body is fixed on the surface of the cathode plate. A battery is constructed by four positive plates and five negative plates before formation is performed, then formation is performed. This battery is experimentally showed that initial capacity and life are increased. |
