The invention relates to a jack with a hand crank and a hand knob attached to its angled free end. To accommodate the jack in the vehicle in a space-saving manner, the hand knob on the free end of the hand crank can be displaced axially between a deposit position and a working position. The hand knob can be automatically preloaded by a spring in the direction of the working position, in which case a preferably corrosion-resistant helical spring, plastic bellows or a hose-like foamed body of elastic material can be used as springs.
