PURPOSE:To make a sufficient heating temperature securable even when partial- cylinder driving takes place at a low temperature in an engine, by installing a heat exchange giving heat to a car room heating medium, in an exhaust passage to be connected to only such cylinders that operate all the time. CONSTITUTION:During low-load operation, in case of an engine whose outer cylinder Eo is suspended but central cylinder Ec alone is operated, an exhaust manifold 8 is divided into two parts, or exhaust manifolds 8a and 8b for the central cylinder and the outer cylinder each. Exhaust passages 9a and 9b are connected to each of these exhaust manifolds 8a and 8b, and the downstream ends of these exhaust passages 9a and 9b are joined to run together. And, on the midway in the exhaust passages 9a, a heat exhanger 10 to be interposingly installed between an outflow port 3 of a heating water circulation channel 4 and a heater core 5 is disposed, and water for heating to be fed to the heater core 5 by way of the circulation channel 4 is heated by exhaust gases in this heat exchanger 10. |
