A manually operated Bowden cable window lifter is described which can be converted into an electro motively operated lifter by attaching an electro motive drive component. For this purpose, the crank bolt is lengthened towards the rear and a worm gear can be plugged onto the extension in a positively locking manner. The worm gear intermeshes with a worm which is seated on the rotor axis of an electric motor which can be screwed for example onto the bar of the window lifter. The crank bolt can be displaced in the axial direction and, in addition to the worm gear bearing, has a free rotation element. If the crank bolt is displaced longitudinally, the free rotation element is pushed into the worm gear. The window lifter is then capable of emergency manual operation - when the worm gear is stationary.
