<p>PURPOSE:To prepare a liquid crystal display element having high sealing strength and reliablity, by adding a hydrophobic org. compound to a sealing material. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 11, 21 such as In2O3 and vertically oriented films 21, 22 are formed respectively on the surfaces of insulation substrates 1, 2. In this kind of liquid crystal display element, a liquid crystal substance 3 is sealed between the above-mentioned insulation substrates 1, 2 which are opposed to each other at a certain distance by a sealing material such as an epoxy resin. The deterioration of the adhesive strength between the sealing material and the insulation substrates is prevented by incorporating a hydrophobic org. compound into the sealing material. As the hydrophobic org. compound, several kinds of surface active agents such as cationic, anionic or nonionic surface active agent, silane coupling agent or silicone oil are used, but a fluorine surface active agent is specially preferably used.</p> |
