Road traffic control system - has controlled indicator lights inset into surface of road

A traffic control system for road vehicle use is based upon controlled signal generators inset into the surface of the road at specific distances. The signal generating device consists of an encapsulated unit (2) that has several indicator lights; green, amber and red together with a pulse counter (5). The units are set at 10 to 30 metre intervals along the road and can be controlled to cause colour changes at a specific rate. The rate is indicative of permitted speed of travel. Located between crossings, the system may be used to control the safe flow of traffic.
