The blender attachment (10) is in the form of a goblet (11) with a clear heat resistant plastics bowl having an integral handle (19). The bowl is open at the base and is fitted into a carrier (18) which has attachments (14) to fit an electric motor in a separate base unit, and has curved cutting blades (15) at the end of the shaft fitted in the carrier. The sealing ring (17) at the base of the bowl (16) is of approximately rectangular setion with concave face to give double sealing edges when the bowl is fitted to the carrier. The sealing ring is flexible at the edges because of its shape, and fits tightly regardless of variation in manufacturing tolerances and uneven surfaces in the carrier and the bowl. The thickness of the ring (17) is equal to, or at least only slightly less than its width.
