The temp. measurement device, esp. a portable type, has a built-in voltage source (16), a temp. sensor (14), esp. a semiconductor temp. sensor, and light emitting diodes (32) for temp. display. It is a convenient, reliable, accurate device with a simple read-out. It has a negligible time delay between the temp. measurement and the indication. It is applicable to temp. measurement of bodies, objects, liquids, gases etc. The device has a round housing (10) with a sealing cap (22) which is a push or screw fit. The housing contains all the components necessary for the operation of the device. The cap (22) forms the switch which turns the voltage source on or off in that it contains a push button (28) making contact with the battery (16) terminal.
