NEW MATERIAL:A D-glutamic acid derivative of formula I [one or R<1> and R<2> is OH and the other is group of formula II (R<3> is H or alkyl; R<4> is alkyl, cycloaklyl, aryl or aralkyl, or R<3> and R<4> together form alkylene group)]. EXAMPLE:D-glutamic acid alpha-isopropylamide. USE:Useful for remedy and prevention of various diseases caused by immunological reactions. It has low toxicity. The compound can be used as an immunosuppressive agent to the rejection symptoms in the transplantation of organs such as the kidney, skin, etc., and autoimmune diseases such as diseases of thyroid gland, chronic arthrorheumatism, gastric diseases, etc., and as an immunopromoting agent to tumor, etc. PROCESS:A D-glutamic acid derivative wherein the amino group and one of the carboxyl groups are protected is made to react with an amine of formula III in the presence of a condensing agent, and the protecting groups are eliminated from the reaction product to afford the objective compound of formula I. |
