<p>PURPOSE:To rapidly and smoothly engage and disengage a clutch by controlling a supply or discharge valve so as to alternately change over the same between open and close conditions, and by setting the first opening period of the valve to be longer than the second opening period thereof. CONSTITUTION:Since the friction coefficient of a clutch is relatively high if a push rod 13, a relay piston 11 and a piston 6 are set under a stationary condition, a comparative time should be required for the initiation of in-coming movement of the piston 6 if energization by a short-time would be performed every constant period, resulting in a large delay between the time point of initiation of turn-on and -off control of a solenoid valve 21 and the time point of initiation of in-coming movement of the piston 6. However, since the first energizing period of the solenoid valve 21 is set to be longer during turn-on and -off control, compressed air in a working chamber 7 in a cylinder 5 is abruptly discharged into the outside during this first energizing period so that the in-coming movement of the piston 6 is initiated in a short time. Accordingly, it is possible to improve the responsiveness during semi-clutch operation.</p> |
