This invention provides a method for producing the new Antibiotic T-42082 by cultivating an Antibiotic T-42082-producing strain of the genus Streptomycos (ATCC 31080) and permitting said strain to elaborate and accumulate Antibiotic T-42082 in the resultant broth and harvesting the antibiotic from said broth. The new antibiotic inhibits the growth of any grampositive bacteria, acid-fast bacteria and certain fungi, and may be used for human treatment and for the treatment of coccidiosis in domestic fowls and animals.
