<p>The separately ignited after-burner for exhaust gases has the spark path arranged in the ignition field of the after-burner. The first spark path after the ignition voltage source is positioned within the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, with all the spark paths coupled in series and with a parallel capacitor connected across them.
