The hose clip uses a tangent screw (27 to vary the effective circumference of a nominally circular strap 17), and is used to clamp water hoses onto e.g. a pump back spigot. A housing (21) completely surrounds the screw (27) and maintains the teeth in a permanent engagement with transverse slot holes (19) in the movable strap extremity 23). The housing is fixed to the opposite strap end (25) by a transverse under bar (43) located by a doubly cranked strap outstand and an intrados band (37). Folded lateral tongues (39) may fix the band to the strap end.
