<p>A device for measurement of torques applied to or delivered by a rotating shaft in test and industrial equipment enables monitoring, maintenance, or program controlled regulation of the load on a machine. It requires no slip-rings or inductive coils and may be attached directly to the shaft where necessary. A transmission element(3), fixed axially to the shaft(1) but able to rotate about it, and a translation element(4), fixed rotationally to the shaft but able to move axially w.r.t. it, are separated by ball bearings(5) transferring the torque and loaded by return springs. The translation element is displaced by a distance proportional to the torque, which is transferred via a ball bearing(6) to a non-rotating force measurement element(9). The transmission element(3) can transfer torque to a coaxial(2) or parallel shaft.</p> |
