The safety mounting for the external driving mirror has the glass (1) supported on the housing by a mastic layer (2) which extends to the side lips for lateral support. An electric heater element is evaporated onto the housing face and linked to contacts (13) comprising studs through the housing wall. The heater element are evaporated onto inside surface of the housing and are arranged in a grid pattern. The mirror is fully protected from impact, with any broken pieces retained by the mastic to prevent injury.
