MANUFACTURE OF MOLDED ELECTRICALLY INSULATING ETHYLENEEPROPYLENE RUBBER COMPOSITION ARTICLE

PURPOSE:To obtain the title molded composition article having improved electrical and mechanical properties, by crosslinking a molded article consisting of ethylene- propylene rubber and an ethylene polymer with ionizing radiation. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene-propylene rubber with a propylene content of 20-40 wt.% is incorporated with 10-50wt.% of one or more types of polymers selected from polyethylene or ethylene copolymers of ethylene, viniyl carboxylates or alkyl acrylates having a melt index <=10g/10min and a crystallinity <=70% to give a composition, which is molded into an article. The molded article is then crosslinked with ionizing radiation to give a molded electrically insulating ethylene-propylene composition article.
