An electronic probe for detecting the temp. of a fluid or solid medium partic. for regulation of low temp. heating, has its sensitive element consituted by a diode. One pt. of the diode, either the cathode or the anode, is in direct thermal contact with the fluid or solid medium the temp. of which is to be measured. The diode is pref. housed in a metal ferrule, the cathode or the anode being welded to one end. The ferrule is mounted at the end of a plastic tube through which the conductors of the diode pass. The probe occupies little space, is easily used even in pipes of small dia. and in places normally difficult of access, is very sensitive and has a short response time.
