Alkoxy-hydride derivatives having the formula M [A1H4-n(OR)n]2, wherein M is an alkaline earth metal and 0.5 </= n </= 3.5, and complexes thereof with a Lewis base, are obtained by reacting a hydride having the formula M (A1H4)2, or a complex thereof with a Lewis base, with an alcohol containing up to 20 carbon atoms. The derivates and complexes are useful as catalysts for the reduction of organic compounds. |
